The Open Book Woodland Hills

Come join us on Sunday, August 16th at 2pm for the Out and Open Book Club, where we will be discussing Yang Shuāng-Zi’s award-winning novel 'Taiwan Travelogue'. Set in Japanese-occupied Taiwan, the story follows a Japanese writer and her relationship with her interpreter as they travel the island. Told as a story within a story, this complex and rich portrait of colonization and oppression centers translation in all its myriad forms. This book is a winner of the International Booker Prize and a National Book Award winner, making it a prescient and unmissable work of literary fiction. This club is open to community members and allies alike! And don’t worry, you can still join even if you DNF on the book.
