Getting started

  • What is EventHound? A feed of food, drink, activities, and events around you—updated in real time by businesses and the community.
  • Who can use EventHound? Users in the United States aged 13+.
  • Do I need an account? Browsing is free; create an account to save, follow, and get alerts.
  • How do I create an account? Sign up with email or Google/Apple, then verify your email.
  • How do I update my profile or username? Profile → Edit Profile.
  • How do I change my location? Tap the location pin; choose “Use my device location” or enter a city/ZIP.
  • Why do you ask for location permission? To show nearby posts and time-sensitive deals. You can turn it off anytime in device settings.

Finding things to do

  • How do I filter the feed? Use filters for category (Food/Drink/Activity/Event), date/time (“Now,” “Tonight,” “This weekend”), distance, price, and “Deals only.”
  • Can I search by keywords? Yes—search titles, descriptions, and business names.
  • What does “Live” mean? It’s happening right now within your selected radius.
  • How accurate are times and availability? We require posters to include dates/times; always check the business link for last-minute changes.
  • Why do I see posts slightly outside my area? We may expand the radius if results are sparse—adjust it in Filters.
  • Why am I seeing these recommendations? Your feed blends proximity, freshness, popularity, and your follows/saves.

Saving, planning & reminders

  • How do I save something? Tap the bookmark; find it later under Saved.
  • Can I get reminders? Tap the bell on a post to get a push/email reminder before it starts.
  • Can I add events to my calendar? Yes—use “Add to Calendar” (Google, Apple, Outlook supported).
  • Can I share a post? Use the share button to send via text, social, or copy link.

Interacting & social

  • Can I follow businesses or places? Yes—tap Follow to get updates and new promotions.
  • Can members post? Members can submit community happenings that fit our categories; see Community Guidelines for what’s allowed.
  • How do I comment or leave a shout-out? Open a post → Comment. Keep it respectful (see Guidelines).
  • What are points/levels/badges? You may earn points for helpful activity (e.g., quality posts, confirmations). Levels unlock perks or profile flair.
  • Why was my comment hidden? Likely for guideline violations (harassment, spam, profanity). You’ll receive a notice.

Trust, safety & reporting

  • How do I report a post or comment? Tap ••• → Report and choose a reason (e.g., spam, unsafe, misleading, expired).
  • How do appeals work? If your content was moderated, use the link in the notice or the Content Reporting & Appeals page to request a review.
  • Can I block users? Yes—Profile → ••• → Block.
  • What if a deal is inaccurate or expired? Report it; we’ll notify the poster and update/remove it.
  • Is EventHound the organizer? Usually no—we surface listings. Contact the business for venue-specific questions.

Payments, bookings & fees

  • Is EventHound free to use? Browsing and saving are free. Optional member upgrades may be available for extra features.
  • Do I pay through EventHound? Some posts link to third-party checkout/RSVP; their terms and refunds apply.
  • Do you take commissions? Some listings may be sponsored or use cost-per-click; these are labeled as “Sponsored.”
  • How are prices and taxes handled? Final pricing is set by the business at checkout.
  • How do refunds or cancellations work? Contact the business or ticketing site shown on the post.

Business & claiming (for owners who happen to be members)

  • I’m the owner—how do I claim my business? Open your business page → “Claim this business,” then verify.
  • Can I post promotions as a business? Yes—see Business Posting & Advertising Policy for accuracy rules, prohibited promos, disclosures, and deal expirations.
  • How do sponsored posts work? Eligible businesses can promote posts; sponsored content is clearly labeled.

Notifications & emails

  • How do I control notifications? Settings → Notifications; choose push, email, both, or off.
  • Why did I get an email from EventHound? Account, saved-item reminders, or digests. You can adjust or unsubscribe in Settings.

Privacy & data

  • What data do you collect? Account info, activity, device/location (if enabled). See our Privacy Policy.
  • Do you use cookies? Yes—for sign-in, preferences, analytics, and location features. See Cookie details.
  • How do I download or delete my data? Settings → Privacy → Request data export / Delete account.
  • How does personalization work? Automated ranking considers your follows, saves, clicks, time, and distance—no credit or legal decisions.
  • Can I use the app without sharing location? Yes, but some features (e.g., “Live near me”) may be limited.

Technical help

  • The app shows the wrong city/time. Check device location permissions and time zone; refresh location inside the app.
  • Content won’t load. Pull to refresh; if it persists, check your connection or try updating to the latest version.
  • I see duplicates or spam. Report them from the ••• menu so we can merge or remove.
